Seya Tansill is offsite construction innovation lead at Building Research Establishment (BRE), the world-leading building research centre that delivers services, standards and certifications. Seya manages Offsite product development, understanding the strategic industry landscape to respond with science-led solutions to support mainstream adoption. Seya is heavily involved with developing new standards for Offsite through BSI and BRE.
Previously, she worked at Stride Treglown Architects as a senior associate technologist, designing social housing and retirement communities and later as head of design for manufacture, nurturing a culture change towards a manufacturing mindset. As a trained passivhaus designer all Seya’s efforts are focused towards enabling a more sustainable built environment.
Terry Fuller is head of partnerships for L&G Modular and before that worked as executive director at Homes England (and HCA as it was formerly known) where he led the largest operating region within the agency.
For over ten years, he was managing director of the UK’s largest house builder, Taylor Wimpey and has served as a non-executive director and chair on 18 other boards. Terry also helped to set up two registered providers.
Commenting on the appointments, Building Better’s project director, Trina Chakravarti said: “I’m incredibly excited about Seya and Terry joining our board. To grow this alliance and truly mainstream MMC in our sector, we must strive to ensure our group of social housing providers doesn’t become too comfortable. Seya and Terry will challenge us – they bring huge amounts of experience and a fresh, external perspective to guide Building Better over the next few, crucial years.”
Seya Tansill said: “I firmly believe that every person has the right to access, live and interact with a healthy and sustainable built environment. The challenge is not only in creating places to live, but spaces where communities flourish and the buildings respond to the needs of the people, maintaining comfort, adaptability and supporting well-being. As an industry we are not delivering that vision at scale. This is why I am excited to join Building Better, to drive change and steward our industry towards that goal.”
Terry Fuller said: “I combine a practical understanding of how dwellings are built with significant experience in Government at HCA and Homes England on developing strategy and implementing funding programmes to deliver more homes. The authority this gave me to implement initiatives in MMC has also motivated me to promote the future form of construction. I am very pleased to be invited onto the Board of Building Better, and I look forward to supporting the organisation’s ambitions and contributing to improving the quality of housing for so many.”
